August 3 2006
NEWS has been a bit scarce recently as we paused in our journey around New Zealand and waited while schools in the northern hemisphere had their long summer holiday. We also took time to make some changes and add some bits after we had completed our first five weeks. So this is a good time for you to have a look around the site too.
At the beginning of next week, starting Monday August 7 2006, we will have added two new themes to the site, which we really want all of you to have ago at. Young people or adults can do both and so it will be really fun to see the results we get. The first is called "The Day History Happened" and asks people to write about a day in their life when something significant occurred in their country or community and the effect it had on them. Being pretty clever people (well actually one of each) we spotted that young people are usually young so they may have had less chance to experience something like this. Therefore we suggest that they may like to interview someone older and then write about the experience of that person. We even suggest that it could be someone a bit famous. I, of course, am now waiting for hundreds of requests to speak to me hahahaha.
The second themes is called "A Working Life" and in this one we want to know more about the jobs done by ordinary people all over the world and how the same job can be affected by the country in which you actually do it. This will allow us to build up this fantastic picture of all these jobs. Again the theme can be done by the person who does the job or by a young person who pops along and interviews them. The interesting thing is that this young person may discover a job that they would like to do later because they never knew it was so interesting or so much fun.
Both of these themes, along with all the others, can be found here. Check out the basic section. So, come on, have a go at something and see your work on a global website alongside, well, who knows.
Keep looking around our site and each Monday starting on 7 August 2006, we will put up a NEWS page telling you of all the new things added since last week.
