"It's a small world" is a common greeting among English speaking people when they meet someone they know but in an unusual place. Of course we all know it is quite a large world but the most exciting part of our work is to find small communities and see how they live. You all know, well you do if you have been following this from the beginning, that when we decided to make New Zealand our base, we picked two places jointly as our homes. These were Auckland, for its cultural diversity, and Northland for its beauty and classic New Zealand demographics.
But, whilst we are still in love with those places, and most of the rest of this beautiful country too, we have decided to make the actual base for this global project, this creative project, this unique venture, somewhere else. It too is a place of outstanding beauty, it too is probably one of the most creative and artistic parts of New Zealand but the difference is that it is quite a bit smaller.
And so, in the next few months we will announce our new base. A place where we will set out each year on our visits around the world and the place to which we will come back at the end of each journey. A place that will actually now be leading our adventure around the world. So I suppose we can truly say not that one world is a small world.
