About it all   Listen to the one world songRead the latest project news

The whole website is about learning, finding out and sharing our knowledge, experiences, lives and thoughts with others. This can be done in all forms - words, pictures and music and this part of the website invites you to express yourself in pictures.

Below you will find a list of subjects - titles for your art work. These are universal subjects which we hope every child, every person on our planet (and on other planets if they are reading this) could respond to. Subjects which will allow us to find out how similar or different people's thoughts, views and feelings are.

We probably don't need to convince younger ones but, even if the last time you made a drawing was 50 years ago, you can still have a go. If you can still draw breath, draw for us.

FORMAT: Art work should be your artistic expression but can be done in any form which can be then photographed, scanned and sent to us - it can be a drawing, photo, painting, sculpture, ceramic, anything which can bring the message across. If you feel that some of these works need some explanation, then provide one. We want people to know what the piece of art means not that it is just a piece of art. For example, if you draw your family we have no way to know if the person you have included in your drawing is your mother, grandmother, aunt, sister or cousin. Maybe colour or shape, in your drawing/painting, will be used to portray an emotion. This is why we need an explanation from you.

If you decide to make the project in the form of a photo, it is far more exciting for everyone if you play with it, have fun with it and be creative. If you have a digital camera and a good computer program you can do a lot with it but even if it is just a conventional photograph you can cut it into pieces and put these together in an original way, or add some painting or drawing to it. But I bet you will have your own ideas.

LOOKING AT THE WORK OF OTHERS:

Using the theme search facility, you can look and compare the art work done by people in the same age across the globe or look at how the ideas change across generations. Are there any patterns, any common themes, any similar portrayals coming from the same environment. How much do the surroundings, culture and social structure influence the work. You can look for differences and similarities and try to analyse these projects based on where the artist lives, read the notes which go with the work or just have your own interpretation of what you see.

Have a look, search through, compare, reflect and maybe allow yourself a bit of passion and creativity. We are waiting.

TOPICS

OUR WORLD

How do we perceive the world, the big home we all share?

Examples: A Combined School no.3 catering for students with special needs. (Poland, city primary school) Southmoor Primary School . (Australia, primary city school)

MY FAMILY

How does this basic part of society function - who do we consider as members of our family - how extended or small are typical families in different cultures - how do we portray all the members?

Examples: Southmoor Primary School . (Australia, primary city school)

MY BEST FRIEND

My best friend - who is it, why? Is it a person we can relate to, rely on, is it someone in my age, someone older or maybe someone I am looking after. Who do we turn to when we have problems, who is always there for us? You can make a portrait of your friend or maybe you will choose to present all the things which make them your best friend.

MY BIGGEST FEAR

What are our fears - for the future or from the past - does everyone have them - how different are they when we are children, how different when we are adolescents or adults - how different are they when we live in big cities, small communities or deserted places - how much do these fears reflect what is happening in our surroundings and in the world - are they all individual personal fears from deep inside or worries of the masses?

Examples: Zespol Szkol Komunikacji. (Poland, city high school)

MY HERO

Who do we value, like or even worship and why - what characteristics have our heroes - why did they deserve this accolade - how many of them come from the past - how many live around us - how many are created by the mass media - how many are just one person's hero and they don't realise it? (in future you will be able to do a written project on this)

A BETTER FUTURE

What would have to happen so the world would become a better place to live - what is our vision - is it possible, can it really happen - what human traits do we need more of to improve our world?

EVILS OF THE WORLD

Are these things which have happened or are still happening, bad deeds or do the world's evils have human faces. It's an extension of my biggest fear topic but this one can show fears of others which may not affect us but because of them for someone the world is hell

ONE WISH FOR MYSELF

What do we wish for ourselves, for tomorrow, for any special occasion or maybe for our whole life?

WHAT I WANT TO DO IN THE FUTURE

What would you like to be - what would you like to do - how would you spend your time?

When I was a child all the girls wanted to be singers or the boys a firemen. Why? Because girls wanted to be beautiful and boys brave, because these seemed to be things which were appreciated in both sexes in my culture. Then lots of them wanted to be a doctor or a lawyer. Why? Because they liked to play with the stethoscope or maybe because they parents told them that this was a profession which is regarded as very respectable. Some had other ideas, like to be a vet because they loved animals and then when they grew up and tried new things some of them became their passion. You can do this project now and come back to our site in, maybe 4 years. You could then do this project again and it would be great to hear from you years later and find out what you did end up doing. It is an art project but we would like to have just a very short text from you in which you could tell us why would you like to do what you presented in your painting, drawing, photo collage, 3D animation or any other art work you chose to do.

Examples: St. Joseph's School, Busselton. (Australia, primary city school)
