BASIC
These projects will show more about life around where you live, peoples' attitudes and feelings and how they live.
They can all be repeated at a later date. Indeed once you submit a project, a diary note will be made and you will be emailed some 7 years later (7 is Richard's lucky number) and asked if you want to repeat it. If it has been done by a school then this would be with different pupils but covering the same area and format. It will allow us to see how changes have taken place both in life and attitudes.
We have given guidelines as to how we would like these projects completed and what we think it would be good to cover. However we fully understand that there are many limitations on teachers and learners so please, if you can only cover some of the topics, do submit your work to us.
You can read about the projects below or by clicking on the link at the side

WORDS HAVE MEANING
AIMS:to show which piece of writing either as prose, poetry or song lyric has a meaning for people all over the world
FORMAT:a piece of text
NOTES:This project is very suitable for younger learners or those who are learning English. However, by giving greater depth to the meaning of the text, it can also be used by more mature learners
INSTRUCTIONS:First think very carefully about which piece of text means something to you. Take your time with this. Then just copy out the piece of text. If it is in your language, and this is not English, then we would ask you to translate it into English too. You can therefore show both pieces of text. For our copyright conditions it is essential that you note down the author(s) of the work. The piece should not really be longer than 50 lines so if it is, for example, a longer poem, select the verses which mean the most to you.
Then we want you to write, in less than 1,000 words, much less if you want, why you chose this piece. Explain as much as you can about your reasons. Was it what was said, or how it was said? Did it mean something at a particular time in your life? Did you associate something or someone with it? Has it had an influence on you or on others in a wider context?
We would suggest that you go and look at the projects that have already been done by our ONE WORLD SCHOOLS.
READING OTHERS:The exciting thing about the projects page is you can look at other peoples work and compare it with yours. With this project you can see writings from all over the world and see why other people have made the choices they have. If you know more about where they live, you may be able to see an influence there. For example, people who have suffered or are suffering from oppression may chose a piece about freedom. See what you can find out and what will people think of you?
