BLOGLET SEVEN - September 2006
This week we stayed in Auckland and in Northland. Auckland is the biggest city in New Zealand. Over one million people live there. Big cities can be very crowded. Auckland is very hilly, which it makes it more interesting but I like the countryside better than cities. So I loved it when we went to Northland. Only about one hundred and fifty thousand people live in the whole of Northland. Many people live on farms and there are lots of animals around. I have seen deer, sheep and cows.
Then I was really lucky. We stayed with a man called Mike, who is a vet. A vet looks after animals just like a Doctor looks after humans. One day he had to go and help when a calf was being born. A calf is a baby cow. After it was born it lay on the ground because it couldn't stand up yet. Then its mummy came over and started to wash it clean. I watched. Later we went back to Mike's farm and Ev and I made friends with an older calf who Mike was looking after. I like farm animals and I think some of them like me.
